A Little Rain Will do Ya

Well for the last three days it seems like all we’ve seen is rain in the weather forecast.  I would have to say I prefer the cool drops of moisture to the tornados we usually get this time of year but if some sunshine starts peeking through the clouds, you won’t hear me complain.  The good thing that has come out of all this wetness has been my ability to sit at my computer and create some new eye catching photos for your viewing pleasure.

Flowers processed

I’ll start with this one.  It’s one of my recent favorites.  It reminds me of a warm Hawaiian day, which is most defiantly a great alternative to  the reality  just outside my windowpane. Can’t you just hear the waves crashing against the shore?

trees quote

I found this grove of trees and have always loved it. They live at a park called Dover Hill. It just sounds so relaxing and makes me want to take a good book and rest beneath their branches. I added the quote because it just seemed to fit my feelings when I gaze upon their dwelling place.

Last but not least I have ventured in to the world of abstract.  I was playing with my program and decided to try some thing I had never tried before and this was the result

Abstract flowers

I admit it’s a bit weird but I kind of like it.  A different spin on another photo. You can decide which you like better.  Here is the original

Don’t forget to check out my Mother’s Day giveaway. Its a great giveaway with a chance to win three items for your Mom or any other special lady in your life (ie you maybe?)

Well I guess I should start looking for pairs of animals and Gophers wood before another drop of water hits the ground.  Enjoy : )

All In a Days Work

I have had a very busy week but it’s all been for good.  I started my week by meeting with some of the lovely ladies of the Jo Mo Etsy Team.  One of the members, Plain Jane, offered up some very good tips in getting our name out there a little bit more.  On Wednesday I was pleased to find a blitz in hearts and Etsy love and discovered I had a print listed on the front page! Needless to say I was very excited .  From that I got a sale of that said exhibited work. It’s quickly  emerging as crowd  favorite.

I than had a blast meeting with Mark from 9art Photography. I’m going to have a small “internship” with him, which means I’ll be holding any lights or reflectors needed.  It might not sound like much but I’m excited to learn more about that side of photography.

Last but not least my Etsy shop is being featured in a giveaway on Lifeologie. You should totally check her blog out!  And don’t forget today and tomorrow is the last day to enter the giveaway I’m hosting on my blog.  Freebies all around.  *whew* I made it through. HA!  Be sure to check back to see some new pieces I just added to my store that has a little bit of a Carnival flare. Until than here’s a little freebie to make your day.  Just go to My Publisher’s page on Facebook. Click the Like button and you’ll be given a code for a free mini book.  These are small but great little gifts for hmm Mother’s Day maybe?!? This is only while supplies last so hurry.

Bird-caged Creativity

In a stroke of either luck or genius I happened upon an inexpensive vintage bird cage at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago.  My first thought when I saw the rusted out treasure was, “Eureka a Planter!”

Here are just a few photos of the transformation process. You’ll have to excuse my photos a tad bit as I busted my little Nikon screen at Christmas time due to a very sad but able to recover from accident so I was kind of shooting blind.  Here goes…

Picture 002

My first purchase was a cheap can of spray paint. I have to say it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but I finally decided on black. You can chose which ever you like just make sure it is an indoor/ outdoor paint.

Picture 001

Since I live in an apartment complex I thought it might be best to not spray the whole balcony with black paint so I draped the area with cheap trash bags (cheap being the operative world thus far)  It also helped block any wind that was coming through and trust me it’s was pretty windy that day.

Picture 003

Here is the after, see how nice it looks?  No more rust. You can’t see it but I also took out the removable tray on the bottom and also spray painted it black to continue the effect. That also helped stop any further rusting that might occur.

By the way you can feel free to judge me on the still hanging Christmas lights.  I just decided to turn them into garden lights. At least that’s what my head is allowing me to use as an excuse.

This is the final effect.  I decided to add some Pansies and Violas. I discovered they were a bit to high so I took some coconut lining from an old hanging basket and it worked wonders.  I can’t wait to see how well they hold up.  All in all I think it turned out very well.  It looks so nice sitting on my balcony with my *ahem* garden lights and it makes me have happy thoughts of spring and sunshine.

And speaking of complete happiness here is what I found in the mail today during my lunch break

Real Simple always makes a great day that much better.  Thanks again for following and be sure to check back for some new photos I’ll be adding to the collection. I’m so excited to share! And don’t forget to sign up for my giveaway.  There’s only a week left to enter!

Loving the New Life around Me

Although the weather here in Missouri seems to have a hard time making up it's mind on what season it wants to display I have managed to capture a few small hints of spring. One of my favorite new photos is this one

I just loved how it turned out. I have taken some more recently and can't wait to see them.  Another great way to celebrate the changing of the seasons is with a treasury. I mean how hard is it not to want to party with some Etsy favs

Coming up soon, I had the fun experience of turning an old birdcage into a great spring planter.  You know you don't want to miss that.

Finally I have found a new blog and fallen in love.  It contains a ton of Etsy giveaways and one of those great giveaways is found here.  Check them out and who knows you could be the next winner.
